3T: From Torino Tubes to High-Performance Cycling
The story of 3T Cycling, founded in 1961 by Mario Dedioniggi in Turin, Italy, began with a focus on steel. Originally known as Tecnologia del Tubo Torino (Turin Tube Technology), or 3TTT for short, the company specialized in crafting high-quality steel handlebars for road bikes.
As cycling technology evolved, 3T embraced change. In the 1970s, they shifted their production to aluminum, offering lighter and more responsive handlebars. By the late 1990s, 3T entered the carbon fiber era, pioneering the use of this advanced material in their components.
A significant turning point came in 2008 when 3T partnered with Team CSC, a pro cycling powerhouse featuring World Champion time trialist Fabian Cancellara. This sponsorship marked 3T’s return to the forefront of professional cycling.
Throughout the 2000s, 3T expanded its product line beyond handlebars. They introduced innovative stems, seatposts, and their first gravel bike, the Exploro, in 2016. This move solidified 3T’s position as a brand catering to the growing demand for performance and innovation in the gravel cycling scene.
Today, 3T stands as a leading manufacturer of high-performance cycling components and complete bikes. Their dedication to Italian craftsmanship, cutting-edge materials, and a commitment to rider experience continues to propel them forward in the ever-evolving world of cycling.
