Boardman Bikes: From Olympic Pedals to Your Garage
Boardman Bikes’ story starts not with a company founder, but with a passionate cyclist: Chris Boardman. In 1981, a teenage Boardman, fueled by competitive spirit, entered a local cycling event on a borrowed bike. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that would culminate in the creation of Boardman Bikes.

Boardman’s dedication and talent propelled him to the top of the cycling world. He captured Olympic gold in the Track Pursuit at the 1992 Barcelona Games, further solidifying his place in cycling history. However, Boardman wasn’t just a champion on the track; he was also a tinkerer and innovator. His frustration with the limitations of commercially available bikes fueled his desire to create something better.

In 2007, Boardman teamed up with cycling industry veterans Alan Ingarfield and Sarah Mooney to launch Boardman Bikes. Their mission: to offer high-performance bikes at accessible prices. They focused on innovative design, utilizing cutting-edge technology without sacrificing affordability.

Boardman Bikes quickly gained recognition for its commitment to performance and value. Early successes like Nicole Cooke’s gold medal win at the 2008 Olympics on a Boardman bike further cemented their reputation.

Today, Boardman Bikes offers a comprehensive range of road, mountain, and electric bikes. Their commitment to Chris Boardman’s vision – high performance, innovative design, and accessibility – continues to drive their development. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just starting your journey on two wheels, Boardman Bikes aims to provide you with the tools to experience the joy of cycling.
